Rocky Top Wine Trail’s Definitive Guide to Enjoying Girl Scout Cookies Like an Adult.
Girl scout cookie season is upon us, so we at the Rocky Top Wine Trail decided the best way to celebrate was to put together a handy pairing guide so you can choose the best wine along the Trail to drink alongside your favorite Girl Scout Cookie.
Trefoils + Hillside Mist
Trefoils are a buttery, slightly-sweet shortbread cookie, so we paired it with our Hillside Mist — our version of a bubbly Moscato. The light, fresh fruit notes paired well with this versatile cookie.
Apple Barn Winery
Savannah Smiles + Apple Raspberry
This pairing gives you everything you love about a Raspberry Lemonade — the sweet, lemony flavor of the cookie was the perfect complement to the tart, raspberry notes of our Apple Raspberry reserve.
Mountain Valley Winery
Do-Si-Do’s + Mountain Valley Red
Mountain Valley Red is made from Concord grapes and often described as “Welch’s with a kick.” So what better to pair it with than the oatmeal-peanut-butter Do-Si-Do’s? It’s like the adult version of a PB&J!
Mill Bridge Winery
Toffee-Tastic + Iconic Tonic
Here, we deviated a bit — and choose to pair the Toffee-tastic cookies with Mill Bridge’s Iconic Tonic hard cider. The buttery, toffee flavors of the cookie really brought out the honey and lemon notes from the cider, making this a perfect match.
Samoa + Hellbender
The Samoa is a tricky cookie to pair, since it already has a lot of different flavors. We decided this complex cookie deserved a complex wine, so we paired it with Sugarland Cellars’ Hellbender. The dark fruity notes of the wine paired well with the chocolate, and Hellbender’s smoky quality gave a toasted feel to the cookie’s coconut topping.
So there you have it! Buy yourself a box (or five!) of girl scout cookies and take them with you along the Rocky Top Wine Trail, and be sure to let us know what you think! Cheers!
